What a day, the Ryder Cup visit to our club and course was beyond everybodies expectation with all of those present given the opportunity of holding the famous trophy and having their photographs taken. (see some below)
The Club would like to thank the PGA Captain Parnell Reilly in particular for the time he spent with us, he made it a day those present will never forget.

Seniors Vice Captain Dave Roberts (left) with Fred Woodward. How nice it was to see Fred who has had health problems over recent months. We all wish him well and look forward to seeing him speeding round the course in his buggy

Club stalwart Gerry Clarke with trophy. Butt as he is affectionately known is an invaluable member of our greenstaff.

Seniors Away Day
The group of smiling youngsters in the photograph were obviously delighted with themselves. They had just spent a very enjoyable mini tour day on Cardigan golf course. This was a hard fought competition but in the end there was only one winner- Derek Gerlach - who actually ran away with the result with a magnificent 38 points, in fact it was noted that he was pretty confident of winning because he brought no spare funds. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was brilliant. Some described it as sub-tropical. Thanks are due to David Roberts, Seniors Vice Captain, who stood in for the captain, Dave Heighway, who was unable to attend because of a golf club related injury. David did an admirable job organising eveybody, ably aided by Richard Meyer who had the task of prising contributions out of some very tight wallets! |
